Seeds of a Father is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that works to raise the significance of fatherhood and demonstrates how positive father engagement is associated with the overall well-being of children, families and communities. Actively engaging fathers and other positive male role models into the schools is just one example of how our strength focused initiatives work in the lives and education of our children. As a leader, my desire to involve fathers directly responds to the needs expressed by families that we engage here in Springfield. I believe in building strong relationships and partnerships to empower the community to operate at its best. This year we are once again part of the national movement called the Million Fathers March.
"The Million Fathers March (MFM) is a community-driven event and is not restricted to fathers only. Grandfathers, foster fathers, stepfathers, uncles, cousins, big brothers, significant male caregivers, family friends, and other male role models are all encouraged to participate."
There are different ways to participate (1) You can bring your child to his or her school on September 28th (2) You can participate in a Million Fathers March activity on September 28th @ Boland Elementary School (3) You can take your child to the library/get a library card (4) You can give a child a book (5) You can make a Donation. Fathers / male caregivers will engage with students in their school by reading and other literacy activities."
